Châtelblanc, a small village of about 120 inhabitants, is located in the extreme south of the Doubs department and not far from Switzerland.
The village is located at an altitude of 1000 meters. The highest point (the Pré d'Haut) is at 1276 meters. 5 hamlets of Châtelblanc are inhabited year-round, including Pré Poncet, a hotspot for Nordic skiing, located at 1,100 meters. This altitude and its microclimate make it a particularly snow-covered area and popular with skiers.
In summer, many hikes are possible including the Tour de la Roche, a 3.8 km circuit with a 360 ° view at the top of this rock. Some people imagine that it is here that the castle at the origin of the name of the village could be enthroned! Possibility of variation by the Bief Brideaux waterfall.
