The charming hilltop village of Nozeroy has preserved lovely remains of its past, such as the Horloge gateway, the Saint-Antoine collegiate church, and the ruins of the castle.
Nozeroy is located in the Jura department, in the Franche-Comté region. Located high up, Nozeroy housed a fortified castle today in ruins. Nozeroy had its hour of glory in the Middle Ages, under the Chalon dynasty, princes of Orange. It controlled the access roads to Switzerland and the exploitation of salt.
Some of the stairs inside these houses are hundreds of years old. You should also know that a team of volunteer Nozéréans are trying to restore the castle; with small means, but full of love for their heritage.
