The museum Uzès, Gard, was founded in 1910 and since 1988 he is named Georges Borias, a passionate teacher and artist who assumed for 40 years of volunteer management of the institution.
Labeled "Museum of France", it is housed since 1978 in the former Bishop's Palace, a remarkable building of the seventeenth century included in the Inventory.
The collections from several fund propose to discover the history of the city from prehistoric times to today through works, objects and archaeological documents, ethnography. Also presented the furniture (including so-called painted cabinets "cabinet Uzès"), pottery Uzège (an age-old local craft specialty) and a set of ceramics Pichon (a family factory founded in the late eighteenth century and whose descendants still perpetuate know).
Works of art, finally, are also on display and a room is dedicated to the writer André Gide, whose family was originally from the city.
Moreover, temporary exhibitions are regularly scheduled.
Open daily from February to December except Monday, 1 November and 25 December.
