A Benedictine abbey founded in the second half of the 20th century, the Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation abbey in Le Barroux, in the Vaucluse, now hosts around thirty nuns. Erected in 1992, it was born from the desire to lead the Benedictine life in the wake of Dom Gérard, founder of Sainte-Madeleine du Barroux.
The nuns of Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation Abbey in Le Barroux follow the Rule of Saint Benedict dating from the 6th century and offer monastic craft products in their store. A mass in the extraordinary form of the Roman rite is also offered every day at 10 a.m.
